TNI News Service (TNS)
Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 15th July, 2017: In a dreaded incident at Indian Oil Depot located at New Jalpaiguri area of Siliguri 4 oil tankers caught fire. The incident happened during the evening hours. At least 20 huts nearby also caught fire in the impact. The IOCL Depot is located in a very strategic position of Siliguri. If any untoward incident goes out of control entire Siliguri city comes under the impact and a huge disaster may occur. IOCL and CISF take deep care about the security of the Depot. However, according to the local sources, the fire didn’t happen in the terminal but it started at an Oil tanker parked just adjacent to the IOCL. Another source said that it might have happened while stealing oil from the tanker. The racket is highly functional area despite many crackdowns by Siliguri Metropolitan Police. The fire brigade brought the fire under control by spraying foam from their modern machines. However, the question remains when will such a dangerous illegal business come to an end?
